Lanecia Nelson: 24-Year-Old Fatally Shot Woman Found Via 'Find My Friends' App

Police in Atlanta, Georgia are searching for clues this week after a woman was found behind a local school near the woods.

The boyfriend of Lanecia Nelson, 24, was found after her family reported her missing Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Her boyfriend had other plans though; instead of printing out “Missing” posters and blasting it on social media, he turned to technology.

He used iPhone’s “Find My Friends,” according to Atlanta Journal Constitution. That’s what led authorities to Nelson’s body around 3 a.m. Wednesday near a charter school.

The woman's body showed signs of blunt force trauma, Fox 5 Atlanta reports. The case has been ruled a homicide.

Nelson was shot in the head, the AJC reported, citing the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office. Her bodyfriend found some of her clothes near Atlanta Heights Charter School and flagged down detectives, the newspaper said.

Police have not revealed any suspects in the case at this time.
