Arrest Man In Slaying Of Florida Mother Alana Sims

Alana Sims, 23, was found dead next to her SUV in a residential street in Tampa Bay, Florida, on Monday, January 30, 2023. Her sleeping son was found in the vehicle unharmed.

Police in Tampa Florida have arrested a suspect in the slaying of a Alana Sims, who was found dead next to her SUV on January 30, 2023. Her toddler was found asleep and unharmed inside the vehicle.

Billy Adams, 25, faces murder charges iin connection with Sims’ death and law enforcement said the two were in a relationship.

Sims was found dead in a residential neighborhood. Police officials said that she had suffered “upper body trauma,” but divulged little else about her death.

Adams was recently acquitted of double murder, police said to a news release. Sims reportedly was on her way to a party celebrating the freedom of Adams when she was killed.

“Mere days after he was acquitted of a separate crime, our homicide suspect did the unthinkable when he killed an innocent woman and her unborn child,” said Tampa Interim Chief Lee Bercaw. “I hope this arrest brings some closure to the victim’s family who is mourning the loss of two loved ones. We are working with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure the suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Tampa Interim Police Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement that he hopes justice brings a bit of closure to the Sims’ family.

“I hope this arrest brings some closure to the victim’s family who is mourning the loss of two loved ones,” he said. “We are working with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure the suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

A GoFundMe campaign set up by the victim’s mother says this:

“Alana was a devoted mother who has a son who she loved very much. She was murdered on Monday the 30th . She was 5 months pregnant at the time and leaves behind a 2 year old. Please help us out in the time of need. Anything is appreciated. God bless.”
