Arrest Made In Murder Of New Jersey CouncilWoman Eunice Dwumfour

Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of 30-year-old Eunice Dwumfour, a married mother and Republican councilwoman in the borough of Sayreville, New Jersey.

Rashid Ali Bynum, a fellow church member of Dwumfour’s, faces first-degree murder and weapons charges in the murder.

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, Dwumfour was shot dead in her residential neighborhood, according to law enforcement. Local police said they have reason to believe her white Nissan SUV traveled about 100 feet before coming to a stop. She was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds just before 7:30 p.m., according to police.

Law enforcement officials said that Bynum used the internet to learn details about where Dwumfour went to church at, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone told reporters.

“A search of the victim’s phone revealed Bynum as a contact in Eunice Dwumfour’s phone with the acronym FCF,” the prosecutor said. “FCF is believed to be an acronym for the Fire Congress Fellowship, a church the victim was previously affiliated with, which is also associated with the Champion Royal Assembly, the victim’s church at the time of her death.”
