Her family said that Chirrelle Scott was a good woman who loved her family and her friends. She didn't have any enemies. So her sudden death apparently behind the wheel of her car on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, is a mystery to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, who discovered the 29-year-old's body at an intersection near Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Scott had multiple gunshot wounds, police said. The grazen shooting happened in the middle of evening rush hour, about 5 p.m. Several witnesses reported that they saw gunfire and that a car peeled out after the shooting.

"University City Division officers responded to several 911 calls regarding shots fired into a vehicle," Capt. Brian Foley told WSOC-TV. Traffic was brought to a standstill for about four hours as police conducted an investigation on the site, he said.

"She was my oldest daughter,” Scott's father told WSOC. “She enjoyed her life, she enjoyed her music, she could sing, she was real talented. She was being herself."

Michael Scott said that his daughter was basically a home body, some one who stayed close to family and didn't cause trouble. 

"She was right here at the house with us. She wasn't out on her own. It wasn't like she'd bring a lot of trouble here,” he told the TV station. “If she did, we'd know it.”

“We do not know the reason behind the shooting. We do not know a motive behind the shooting. We are asking for witnesses to come forward if anyone saw anything,” Foley told WBTV.

Motorists were stunned that something like that could happen in broad daylight.

"Just shock, I can’t believe something like this would happen so close to home,” Megan Stevenson, who lives nearby, told WCNC-TV.

“I’ve never seen anything like this, especially in front of a hospital, I think that’s the most shocking part, that it’s right in front of a hospital where emergency care is, where people come and go all day.”

“Usually you expect this in the back roads, not really in town,” Stevenson told WCNC, “not in a location as prominent as this with this many people, you’d think somebody saw something.”

Scott was known to law enforcement authorities. In 2014, she was arrested for felony assault and damage to personal property, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Police are looking for a silver or gray Nissan Sentra, according to WSOC.
