Kaylin Simone Cole: 21-Year-Old Woman Shot Dead After Domestic Dispute

Kaylin Simone Cole, 21, was gunned down Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 while sitting inside a car in Indianapolis. Authorities are calling the slaying a "domestic" situation.

Four months after her murder, Indiana authorities look to make an arrest in the cold-blooded murder of a local woman.

Kaylin Simone Cole, 21, was outside an apartment building early in the morning on  the south side of Indianapolis, Indiana, on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017. Witnesses told police said that she was arguing with a man, who was in another car when he pulled out a firearm and shot her dead.

Cole mashed the gas and crashed into another vehicle. Her body was retrieved from the car by authorities in the 1300 block of South Senate Avenue about 8:15 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Maj. Rich Riddle told the Indianapolis Star newspaper.

"This is believed to be a domestic situation," Riddle was quoted as saying. "We are following several leads on a suspect."

“They obviously were having a spat about something.  She tried to leave, ended up crashing and he just shot her,” neighbor Dezarae Hargis told local TV station Fox 59.

“It is unusual to see female victims of gun violence and unfortunately, many of the female victims we do see are in domestic violence relationships that turns deadly. Our message to them is there’s so much help out there, there are so many resources,” Riddle said, the TV station reports.

But in March 2018, new information has emerged in the case. A witness has come forward to put the dots together and hopefully bring justice to Cole's family.

“They were arguing then I heard a pop. I told my wife, ‘He done shot that girl.’” one witness told local TV station Fox 59.

Another witness said that he tried to save the victim in the aftermath of the shooting. “I tried CPR but she was bleeding really bad. I tried. I couldn’t do nothing,” neighbor Brad Powell told the station.

“It was kind of disturbing what I saw,” Powell was quoted as saying. “That girl didn’t deserve that. It was like seeing my daughter on the ground.”

Officials have now produced an image of a person of interest in the case.

Anyone with information about the person of interest is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).

Cole's family has set up a GoFundMe account.
