Rena Hodges: Mother of 3 shot to death in Houston condo

Rena Hodges, 35, was found shot to death in her Houston condo. Relatives discovered her body when she didn't pick up her child from the babysitter. Police are searching for her common-law husband, Jerald Watt, who has vanished.

It was unlike Rena Hodges to not check in with family after a few days. Yet, the mother of three could not be found for several days by relatives in Houston.

What really was unusual was that Hodges, a 35-year-old mother of three, didn't pick up one of her children from the babysitter.

Something was wrong.

Family members decided to pay a visit to her apartment but could'nt get it. That's when they called on the apartment complex's security to open the door.

Her common-law husband, Jerald Dewayne Watt, 40, has not been heard from. Police are looking for him for answers in the slaying.

Hodges's niece, Ariel Thomas, told KTRK that she and Watt were breaking up.

"She was telling me how the relationship she was in. She was about to leave him. She was done and everything," Thomas was quoted as saying.
Hodges leaves behindThose girls are now being cared for by family members.

"She was a loving person, she was beautiful inside and out," Thomas said. "It don't feel real at all, knowing I was just with her."

“Please come forward,” niece Imani Ross told KHOU-TV. “Please come forward. It’s justice for her daughters.”

Police believe Watt could be behind the wheel in either of these two vehicles: a 2002 blue Ford Explorer with Texas plates FJW-9847 or a 2010 white Nissan Versa with Texas plates 8KMWV (handicapped plate).
