Tyvitta Dischler: 27-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Inside Milwaukee Home

Tyvitta Dischler, 27, was found burned and shot in her Milwaukee home after police responded to a child abuse call. Her 5-year-son was also hospitalized. Her estranged husband is in jail.

Tyvitta Dischler tried to get help. She really did. Her account of her abuse was recorded not only in repeated text messages saying that she would be killed, but in a series of victim statements she wrote, each of them more chilling than the next.

"While I was sleeping my husband hit me in the head twice with a wooden rolling pin,” Tyvitta wrote, according to a media report. “For another five to 10 minutes he continued to strangle me."

Still, she couldn't get protection from the courts. This time, the perpetrator attacked a child.

Milwaukee law enforcement officers went to Tyvitta Dischler's home this week to investigate an allegation of child abuse. What they found was a homicide.

The nightmare began Wednesday, May 24, 2017 when police were called to a home near 47th and Brentwood after getting a call about a child being struck. A 5-year-old family member had gotten beaten so bad that they had to be hospitalized, and police wanted to get to the bottom of it.

When they arrived at the home, they learned that a man was inside. Police enlisted a Tactical Enforcement Unit and crisis negotiators, who quickly arrived on the scene and were able to enter the residence, according to Fox 6 News.

Inside, they found Dischler's body, shot and burned. A 49-year-old man, purportedly her estranged husband, remains in jail.

The victim's father, Todd Dischler, puts the blame for said his daughter's death on the system. He said that his daughter was frequently abused and did all she could to try to divorce her husband.

"There's a life here that's gone because nobody listened," Todd told tmj4.com. His daughter filed a temporary restraining order against her husband just a month ago, Todd said, but a judge rejected it.

"The court commissioner said no, there is insufficient evidence. She called me Monday and said, 'Dad they wouldn't listen to me. I have the evidence but they wouldn't listen to me,'" he was quoted as saying.

The pain and anger is almost unbearable for Todd. "The whole system failed,"  Dischler said. "I'm a dad, that's my oldest daughter. My oldest kid, gone because a court system and a police system didn't work."
