Tekeila Calloway: 25-Year-Old Woman's Body Found In Atlanta-Area Creek
Days ago a little child with his family made a gruesome discovery in a wooded area near a creek next to Redan High School in DeKalb County, Georgia. They found a woman's body. Authorities said the woman, who looked to be in her early 20s, was found facedown.
Mary Jones wants the public to know about her daughter, Tekeila Calloway, who was identified by police as the deceased woman. She had been shot to death by Barbashela Creek or dumped there, police said.
Her mother said that she only wants what's right, she wants resolution, she wants justice.
“Justice is what I want. It will be served,” she told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, holding back tears. “It will be served. It will be served.”
Police don't have any leads in the case, but they said they found blood on a walkway near the creek. They are investigating the case as a homicide.
“Somebody got to pay for this. What they done to my baby," the victim's mother was quoted as saying. But who would want to kill Tekeila Calloway? What could she do to deserve death?
Her mother told the AJC that her daughter shocked her about a year ago when she divulged that she had gang ties.
“I was in shock to hear my daughter tell me that. I said, ‘That’s not your life. You wasn’t raised like that,’” Jones told the AJC. “She just wanted to be with people who would look out for her, who would love her. She didn’t know what she was getting into.”
