Breanna Walker: 24-Year-Old Orlando Mother Gunned Down After Dropping Baby Off At Babysitter
Breanna Walker was a new mother settling into motherhood and loving her new baby. She also loved her job and was on her way there when tragedy struck. Orlando police said the 24-year-old was gunned down about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 in her car just after she dropped her child off at the babysitter's.
In the days since her death, her colleagues, friends and family have reacted with outrage at the shooting, which is a mystery that has perplexed much of Orlando. Walker, who worked at Morgan & Morgan Law firm.
The law firm's proprietor, Mark Morgan, said in a statement: "Breanna Walker was a young mother whose life was violently and senselessly taken just after she dropped off her precious child at daycare on her way to our offices. We have few details about what happened, but we do know Breanna was loved by her coworkers at Morgan & Morgan, who are having a difficult time accepting this horrible news."
The normally quiet neighborhood has been upended by the murder, especially since the killer is still at large.
"We're devastated over this, it's really heartbreaking," David Stokes, president of the Spring Lake Manor Neighborhood Association, told Orlando TV station WESH.
While police have no revealed if their are any suspects in the murder, witnesses are telling what they know.
"We didn't hear nobody run, nobody yell," a neighbor told WFTV. "We heard nothing until I saw all the police cars come by, and I went and looked outside my window. That's when we saw something had happened outside."
Neighbor Lisa Bright said that the incident has shaken her as well as the community.
"As a mother, and as just a human, I think, I'm affected," she was quoted as saying. "What does this senseless action, what does it prove? You took a life. You took a mother away from her child."
