La'Diamond Meyers: 23-Year-Old Pregnant Mother Stabbed To Death In Front Of Her 4 Kids In Detroit
La'Diamond Meyers tried to get away from a troubled relationship. Things got so bad that she moved into an abandoned home in Detroit with her four children -- but even that wasn't enough.
In a vacant house in the 15000 block of Braile Street on the city's west side, police found Meyers' body riddled with stab wounds and four children who saw what happened to her.
"The little boy said, 'My daddy hit her across the head with the broom and he stabbed her,'" the neighbor who was the first adult to see the body told police, according to WDIV-TV.
Detroit authorities arrested Willie L. Wilborn, 29, and charged him with first-degree murder.
"She was five months pregnant," Meyers' sister, Sheila Calvin told the TV station. "You didn't only take hers, you took another life as well as her."
"You took my sister, someone who we'll never see again, someone who her kids won't see. It's about how her kids are going to feel now," Calvin was quoted as saying.
The neighbor became concerned when she saw the oldest child outside looking for someone to help her. "The little girl was riding a scooter," the neighbor told the TV station. "I said, 'Where is your mom and dad?' She said, 'Mom is sleeping and dad's at work.'"
Police said Meyers was inside the home dead with no clothes on. Wilborn is alleged to have struck Meyers with a blunt-force object, according to authorities.
The four children are staying with family now, local media reported.
