Erica Farley: Detroit Mother Of 3 Shot Dead In Home

Erica Farley was shot dead April 1, 2018 when someone shot into a Detroit home. Police have no suspects in the slaying of the mother of three.

Erica Farley was a powerful force in her community, church and family. The mother of three started a group to raise awareness about domestic violence.

But her life was cut short on April 1, 2018. That's when a bullet ripped through a home in Detroit and pierced Farley's neck. She died at the scene, police said.

"Whatever happened, it shouldn't have happened. Whoever did this, I don't even think they know what they did. They took a real big piece of a lot of people's life away," her husband Khalid Farley said.

He is left to raise three children -- Jasmine, Keisean and Kenyon -- by himself because of the senseless tragedy.

Farley's nonprofit group, "Voices with a Purpose," was created to help young women in danger. Ironically, it was the danger of an unknown gunman that imperiled her own life.

Family and friends recently gathered to remember Farley, who they say was a friend, confidante and cherished church elder.

Wonderful smile, it would brighten your day, loved the Lord," sShiquita Smith, her cousin, told Fox 2 in Detroit.  "Erica was a wonderful person. I don't know how else to explain Erica."

"The only thing I can say to whoever did it is, just repent," Raheem Warren was quoted as saying. "Ask God for forgiveness."

Authorities are asking for anyone with information to contact Detroit authorities.

You know what you did is wrong," Smith said. "Turn yourself in, this family needs justice for her."

If you have any information call Detroit police at (313) 596-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
