Shafequa Cooper's body was found on an Essex County street in New Jersey. Her slumped-over body was reported to police by a passing motorist on Friday, August 17, 2018 about 8:55 a.m.

When responding officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that Cooper had multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities outlined the murder scene, on Krotik Place in Irvington, for hours as they collected information.

There is very little information about the slaying, which authorities surmise occurred sometime in the early morning hours, but can't be sure. 

Cooper, 38, was a mother who lived in nearby Irvington Township, according to RLS Media.

The murder is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force.
