Destiny Dennis, 21, was in transit. Riding with her boyfriend on her way to Atlanta, the young mother never made it to her destination. On Friday, January 4, 2019, Dennis was killed while passing through Jacksonville, according to local media reports.

Law enforcement have told the family that Dennis’ death occurred at a gas station, the result of a robbery attempt. Her baby was reportedly in the vehicle but unharmed.

Dennis' mother, Emily Anne Martin, tells Action News Jax that she was justice for her daughter.

“It would be a relief because we would know what happened to her and that the person who did it would be held accountable, however, it’s still not going to bring my baby back but I would like to know what happened,” Martin was quoted as saying.

Dennis’ slaying is the third murder in Jacksonville in 2019.
