Melissa 'Storm' Hefty: 39-Year-Old Mother of 5 Fatally Shot In Baltimore

Melissa “Storm” Hefty, 39, was shot dead about 5:30 a.m. Saturday September 5, 2020, in southwest Baltimore, police said.

Melissa "Storm" Hefty loved her job at at Maryland Blue Crab restaurant in Maryland’s Dundalk community in southwest Baltimore. As a mother of five children, Hefty took her job seriously.

At her job as a bartender, hefty would often dance to lighten the mood at the restaurant, the owner told local media. But where there was joy, laughter and music, senseless gun violence has quieted it all.

Just 17 days before her 40th birthday, Hefty was shot in the head. The murder took place about 5:30 a.m. Saturday September 5, 2020, in southwest Baltimore, police said. She was two men were also shot at the location.

Hefty was pronounced dead at the hospital following the multiple shooting.  Family and friends are planned a vigil for her. and to bring awareness to community violence.

Maryland Blue Crab is planning a fundraiser to benefit Hefty’s children the restaurant said.

Her four daughters plan to get a tattoo in honor of their mother, who was affectionately called storm.
