Kailey Love of Kansas City, Missouri, was a young woman still adjusting to life as the mother of a 1-year-old. Her family says that she was someone who spoke her beautiful mind.

“Strong will, very independent and very loving,” Isaac Walls, Kailey’s grandfather, told Fox 4 Kansas City. “She did what she needed and felt like she had to do to in order to take care of her child.”

On Sunday, May 23, 2021, Kansas City police said that Kailey was gunned down around 3:40 a,m. While little is known about the murder, what is known is that a little girl is now without her mother.

Kaily, 18, was found by officers suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

First responders tried to save her life, but Kailey succumbed to her injuries. She was declared dead at the scene, Capt. Leslie Foreman, a police spokeswoman, told local media.

Police announced that a suspect has been taken into custody, but no charges have been filed at this time.
