Aliyah Pérez: 26-Year-Old Woman Shot Dead In Milwaukee

Aliyah Pérez, 26, was shot and killed around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023, near 26th Street and Clayton Crest Avenue. A man connected to the case died via suicide while being pursued by police.

Aliyah Pérez, 26, was shot and killed around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023, on a residential street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Aliyah was the cousin of Common Council President José G. Pérez, who had this to say in a statement:

"My family has experienced an immense tragedy within the past 24 hours that has left us saddened beyond words. I ask the news media and the public to please allow me and my family members space and privacy at this time," read the statement.

Milwaukee police detectives are investigating what led to the fatal shooting. Neighbors told TV station Fox 6 that they heard more than five shots, and they then saw emergency response employees working to revive a woman.

Police still have not revealed if they know who the gunman is or a motive, but on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, authorities pursued a man spotted in a vehicle wanted in connection with the slaying.

The man, identified as 28-year-old Elijah Combs, was pronounced dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a police chase and crash, according to Milwaukee authorities.
