Other than that, few details are known about the fatal shooting, which has understandably gutted the teenager’s family.
"You know, we need the help of the community," Sandra Hudson, Alynia's great aunt, told ABC10. "And find a way to close this investigation and hold individuals accountable for the tragic ending to our baby girl's life."
According to Sacramento County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Rod Grassmann, Alynia was in a car with two other people when a gunman approached and fired into the vehicle.
One of the people inside drove the car to the hospital after the shooting.
Alynia’s death leaves behind a heartbroken family and community.
"Our young women are being killed, our young men are being killed — and when I see this tragedy, I just throw my hands up like 'Where are we gonna be at again? Is this gonna happen tomorrow? Where are we gonna go to now? Which area is someone going to die?,'" Berry Accius, a community activist, told local media.
