#BreYannaBailey: Mother Of 3 Fatally Shot Outside Fire Station In South L.A.

BreYanna Bailey, 30, was shot to death while riding in a vehicle with her family in South Los Angeles on Monday, September 26, 2022. No arrests were made.

BreYanna Bailey, 30, was just trying to get help. That’s what Los Angeles authorities have been able to piece together in the aftermath of a tragedy that took the life of a young mother.

About 11:45 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022, Los Angeles authorities said that an SUV carrying Bailey and her three children crashed into a fire hydrant in front of a fire station in South L.A., sending a surge of water into the road.

First responders found Bailey in the car suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to save her life, Bailey died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Authorities for now presume that Bailey was shot and the vehicle was trying to get her assistance and crashed, according to reports.

Two other young women were in the vehicle with Bailey and her kids. The women, described as family members by local media, said that the shooting doesn’t make any sense.

"This is like a nightmare. A nightmare," Katrina Taylor, a cousin of the victim, told KABC TV. "And it wasn't for her... I just don't understand... How could a person just shoot into a vehicle, you didn't even know who you're shooting."

"I just know that they said that somebody chased them down," Taylor was quoted as saying. "She's innocent. She's not confrontational at all."

Authorities say they are still investigating the slaying, but what they do know now is that the shooter’s vehicle was going westbound on Slauson Avenue from Western Avenue and stopped at St. Andrews Place and Slauson.

Bailey leaves behind three children, ages 3, 5 and 9, family members told local media.
