Chanell Crosby: 35-Year-Old Mother of Slain Boy Is Found Dead in Atlanta

Chanell Crosby, the mother of a 13-year-old boy who was tragically shot and killed in DeKalb County in 2022, has been discovered deceased in Atlanta, according to the boy's father and police.

Atlanta Police issued a missing person's report for 35-year-old Chanell Crosby on Thursday night, noting that her family had last seen her between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on July 14. Investigators indicated she may have been in the Macon area.

On July 19, 2024, Crosby's father, Don Wilson, received notification from police that her body had been located. MARTA Police reported that one of their officers was alerted around 2 p.m. to a vehicle emitting a foul odor near the West End MARTA station. Upon inspection, a body was found in the back seat of the car, approximately nine miles from Crosby's residence, as confirmed by Wilson.

This heartbreaking development compounds earlier tragedies for the Crosby family. In September 2022, Chanell Crosby's son, Jamiren, was killed; his body was discovered on September 19, 2022, in the woods behind a home in the Lithonia subdivision. No arrests have been made, and authorities continue to seek a person of interest.

The Atlanta Police Department has confirmed the discovery of Chanell's body and has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The victim’s family has started a GoFundMe to raise burial funds. It reads:

In memory of our dear loved one Chanell Crosby, who has left us far too soon, we ask for your support to help cover burial services and to help her three children with their immediate needs.

Chanell left on Saturday, 7/13/2014 on a trip but never returned to us. As reported on the news, she was found at the West End MARTA station in Atlanta, GA on 7/19/2024.

Thank you for all of your prayers and support. "Merciful God, we ask for Your healing touch upon our broken hearts. Help us find solace in Your promise of eternal life and hope of a joyful reunion. Strengthen our faith. Guide us through our grief and help us live lives that honor Chanell's memory. In Jesus name we pray. Amen."

The details surrounding Crosby’s death have not been released. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Crime Stoppers Atlanta Tip Line at 404-577-TIPS (8477), online at www.StopCrimeAtl.org, or by texting CSA and the tip to CRIMES (274637).
