Dionyah Thompson: 23 -Year-Old Charlotte Woman Dies In Deadly Valentine’s Day Ambush
Dionyah Thompson, 23, was shot and killed on Valentine’s Day in a murder-suicide outside a Charlotte brewery.
Eight months ago, Dionyah Thompson, 23, won the lottery at a local 7-Eleven in Charlotte, North Carolina. The $150,000 cash prize came after she bought a $5 scratch-off ticket.
After state and federal taxes, Thompson took home $106,516. That was in October 2022.
On February 14, 2023 – Valentine’s Day – she was outside a brewery with a male friend when Thompson’s ex-boyfriend pulled up and shot them both multiple times.
The gunman then shot himself and died from self-inflicted wounds, according to police.
The man who was on a date with Thompson suffered minor injuries. Thompson died from her gunshot wounds.
A bar manager at brewery said the shooting, which took place around midnight, caused a commotion outside with employees running back into the building.
"A customer who was on the patio had seen it," he told WCNC-TV. "They came in in a shock and a panicked state, saying somebody had gotten shot and some of my bar staff grabbed me from my office and I dialed 911."
