J’Lyn Quinones: 18-Year-Old Pregnant Girl Shot To Death In Maryland

'Lyn Quinones, 18, of Suitland, Maryland was shot to death on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at an intersection in Prince George’s County. Her unborn baby was successfully delivered at the hospital.

"She was young but she was really happy that she was having a baby. She said she would find any way to be there for her."a turn it around," Constance Chase, who had known her for a year, told TV station WUSA9 about her friend.

J’Lyn was pregnant and was looking forward to spending time with her baby girl, Chase said.

J’Lyn and another female friend were crossing the street at an intersection in Capitol Heights when they were suddenly gunned down, according to police.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene about 4:45 pm on Tuesday April 20, 2021.

That’s when they found the two women both suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Prince George's County Police.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. J’Lyn had to undergo emergency surgery in an attempt to not only save her life, but that of her unborn child.

As of this writing, the newborn baby is in critical, but stable condition, according to the TV station.

J’Lyn was pronounced dead at the hospital. Meanwhile, the other shooting victim’s name, injuries and condition have not yet been disclosed.

Chase said that the baby was all J’Lyn talked about. "In the beginning, she was scared because she was a single mom," Chase was quoted as saying. "She was young but she was really happy that she was having a baby. She said she would find any way to be there for her."

Despite the shooting taking place on a busy street, Prince George's County Police don’t have a suspect or motive behind the murder.

They have launched an investigation to identify an locate the suspect(s) involved as well as the motive behind the fatal shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
