Skyé Bleu Evans-Cowley: 5-Year-Old Shot Dead In Green Bay, Wis.

On Monday, October 17, 2022, Skyé Bleu Evans-Cowley was shot to death outside her family’s apartment in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

On Monday, October 17, 2022, Skyé Bleu Evans-Cowley was out doing what any 5-year-old would be doing: playing just outside her door. But child’s play turned tragic on this autumn day in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Skyé  was shot dead just before 5 p.m. outside her family’s apartment on the city’s east side. The little girl died after being rushed to the hospital, according to police.

The killing has shocked many in the community, which has long prided itself for being tight knit.

Immediately after the shooting, the police department said that it was looking for at least one person of interest who may have sped off in a dark green Mercury Milan. So far, no suspects have been named.

“I just want answers,” said Kayla Evans, Skyé’s mother told local TV station WLUK. “I want answers for my baby, my best buddy. My all, my one and only, my everything.”

During a vigil for her fallen girl, Evans said she had lost her sister one year ago and her mother two years ago

“I never get to hear 'Mommy, I love you more than the whole wide world,'” Evans was quoted as saying. “That was my best friend, my right hand.”

Evans and her family want the public to help bring justice by informing the police about what they know about the person of interest and anyone else involved.

“She was robbed of her life,” Mika Evans, Skyé’s aunt, told the news outlet. “It's not right. She had her whole life ahead of her. The family wants justice. I'm pretty sure the community wants justice. This is a child.”

Chris Davis, Green Bay police chief, stopped short of naming a suspect, but cautioned the media on reporting on rumors.

"I will say, obviously, that this is a terrible tragedy," the chief said during a press briefing Thursday at the Police Department in downtown Green Bay. "And I would just ask that we remember in this situation that right now we have a mother, we have a family and we have a community that have experienced an unspeakable loss, and that we don't lose sight of that as we deal with this situation."

Police ask that anyone with information about the shooting immediately call 920-448-3200 and reference case #22-257268. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 920-432-7867, submit a tip online at www.432stop.com or use the "P3 Tips" app for crime tips.
