Tonya White, 35, was a mother of four children who always gave to others. Her sister told local media that, "She was always thinking about others and not herself."

White was killed on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at an Atlanta-area apartment complex in Clayton County. Authorities arrested 40-year-old Jornel Jamil Williams, who reportedly was found by officers sitting in a vehicle with the deceased victim.

"Death anyway is tragic for anyone, but to have your loved one taken from you. That's a whole ‘nother hurt," said Gregory White, the victim’s brother, told Fox 5 Atlanta.

She leaves behind three boys and a girl between ages 4 and 16.

Williams is charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

Her sister, Gabrielle Grubbs, told local media that the man taken into police custody is the victim’s former boyfriend. 

"She was my only sister, we got four brothers, and it was just her and me," Grubbs was quoted as saying. "It's just really devastating; I just want him to know what he did to us."

"It's just hard on everybody because she was so close with all of us," Gregory said. "She was like the glue that held us together."
