Velvet Foster: 50-Year-Old Woman Shot To Death In South Carolina

Velvet Denise Foster, 50, of Gaffney, South Carolina was found shot to death outside the partially built home on the night of Sunday, June 18, 2023, in Cherokee County.

Velvet Denise Foster, 50, of Gaffney, South Carolina was known in her community as a God-fearing woman who loved children.

“She was a ball of energy; she was a hoot. Anytime church opened, she was in church, she was just a Christian lady. Just as good as they come,” Kristen McIntyre told TV station WSPA-TV. “She would stop by and see the kids. See her grandson often,” she said.

Foster was building a home, which she was looking forward to. But tragedy struck.

“You can tell that she comes from a beautiful family. All of them are a joy to be around, just to have to see their happiness be dimmed by such an awful thing, is just heartbreaking, honestly,” Andrew Lindsay told the station.

Foster was found shot to death outside the partially built home on the night of Sunday, June 18, 2023, in Cherokee County, S.C. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Foster in the front yard with a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators are continuing their investigation pending autopsy results. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said a second person was shot and has been hospitalized.
