Angela McKoy: Woman shot in the back during fight with ex-girlfriend's partner
Angela McKoy was an mother of two living in suburban Atlanta, Georgia. She was fighting the fight of her life: She had bone cancer. She was winning.
But a petty dispute ended her life. According to police, McKoy was shot in the back by her ex-girlfriend's current partner. The shooting happened September 17, 2016 in an East Atlanta home.
According to the AJC: The fight was captured on a neighbor’s home security camera and is said to have escalated when McKoy threw a glass flower pot at Marshall and chased her with a stick.
Police say 49-year-old Mia Marshall admitted to shooting McKoy. She is charged with murder.
Four days after the slaying, the family, many of whom came down from Ohio, said it is still struggling with grief.
“Today’s her birthday,” her brother Robert Martin told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Everybody is in total devastation.”
McKoy's obituary said that she was a woman of faith. "Angie was a proud graduate of Cleveland High School Class of 1987. She was well loved. And will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Household of Faith Church of God.
