Julia McTure, 47, was found not breathing on December 31, 2016 by her 9-year-old grandson  in their Atlanta apartment. Police believe that she had been raped and strangled.

The family of Julia McTure believes they know who raped and killed her in her Atlanta apartment on New Year's Eve.

Julia McTure, a spry 47-year-old grandmother had a couple of acquaintances to the home earlier in the day, according to her daughter.

"I just know they are going to get caught. I just know it," Kya McTure told WXIA-TV.

Julia McTure was someone who loved her family very much, Kya McTure said. The grandmother especially loved her 9-year-old grandson.

"That was her son that she could never have. And that's exactly what she described him as, 'My son,' instead of her grandson.," Kya McTure told the TV station.

It was the 9-year-old who found his grandmother dead on the floor in the apartment. He alerted other family members that his granny was dead and had been raped.

Police reportedly said that there are signs that she had been strangled.

"These guys are going to get caught and she's going to get her justice, because nobody deserves this," Kya told WXIA.

Atlanta Police are urging anyone with information to call Atlanta Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS (8477. You can also submit an anonymous tip by sending a text to "CRIMES" (274637).
