Lanitia Cole: 31-Year-Old Texas Woman Shot Dead After Confronting Couple For Using N-Word
Lanita Rene Cole, 31, was walking down E. Illinois Avenue in Dallas about 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. That’s when law enforcement says an argument occurred that would turn tragic.
According to this arrest affidavit, Cole approached a couple identified as Jimmie Tarrer and his wife. During the confrontation,, which happened on the couple’s property, Cole accused Tarrer’s wife of calling her the n-word.
The document says Cole “spun her around somehow and she sustained a cut on her left eyebrow. The cut was possibly caused by her eyeglasses.”
That’s when Tarrer allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Cole, according to CBS news.
Tarrer then called 911 and even did CPR on Cole. But when police arrived, he told them that Cole had a knife on her possession. Meanwhile, Tarrer’s wife told authorities that she never saw a knife.
Cole was rushed to nearby Baylor Hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 8:30 p.m.
Tarrer has been arrested and is being held on a murder charge.
