Chauntelle Bernard: Texas Mother Shot Dead At Home On Thanksgiving Day
Chauntelle Bernard, 42, of League City, Texas, was at their home with her husband and two young sons on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019, Thanksgiving Day.
But the day was interrupted not by the light banter of talkative family at the dinner table, but rather, gunshots.
Authorities say Bernard's body was found at her front door. She had been shot multiple times.
Police arrested her husband, Dudley Bernard, 40, about 11 p.m. that night.
The LCPD Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene along with Galveston County District Attorney's Office.
Officers responded to a call about a disturbance and took Dudley Bernard, a Customs and Border Patrol officer, into custody in the front yard.
The victim was also employed by Customs, according to media reports.
Very little has been released about what exactly happened inside the Bernard home. The only clue that there was trouble is a call to police about a disturbance.
"No words can express the sense of loss SCBPO Bernard’s death brings to her colleagues and friends in CBP," the spokeswoman wrote in a statement, ABC News reports.
He was locked up on a $200,000 bond, according to jail records. He is charged with murder.
