Breaunna Cormley: 12-Year-Old Girl Killed in Baltimore; Mother’s Ex Charged

Breaunna Cormley, 12,  was a quiet child who loved to play basketball at the National Academy Foundation school, where she was enrolled. Around her East Baltimore neighborhood, she was known as a very reserved person, her family and neighbors told local media.

“She didn’t bother nobody. She was sweet, quiet and respectful,” her grandmother Trina Baker told The Baltimore Banner. “My heart hurts so bad for her.”

On Friday, July 19, 2024, Breaunna was home alone with Omar Passmore, the father of at least one of her mother’s other children when things got out of control.

Neighbors report hearing “loud yelling” coming from the residence.

Passmore is accused of shooting and killing Breaunna for reasons that no one knows.

Cormley’s family has started a GoFundMe to cover the costs of burial, which is set to happen on August 9.

There is some indication that Passmore was allegedly violent with Sylvia Wands, Breaunna’s mother.

“She ain’t leave her mother’s side, I know that,” Talitha Coleman, a friend of the family, told the newspaper. “She’s a homebody. She loves watching shows, loves helping out with her brothers and sisters.”.

Last year, a Baltimore judge granted Cormley’s mother a final protection from domestic violence order against Passmore.

On May 25, Passmore and Wands had a disagreement that resulted in all of her things being broken inside her apartment, she told police then. She also claims her tires were flattened and there bullet holes in her windshield. She said that Passmore had been drinking.

”I was scared, I don’t feel safe around him,” she wrote in court documents, “I have not done anything to him, but to be a good mother to my sons, I have done my best as a mother to help him raise his children.”

Passmore is charged with first-degree murder and his bond has been denied.
