Ashley Lockhart: 34-Year-Old Mother Of 6 Stabbed To Death In Philadelphia
Ashley Lockhart, 34, was by all accounts an amazing mother who was devoted to her six children, the youngest of which being only 5 months old. The young Philadelphia mother was focused on raising her “Six Charms,” as she called them , but she had also filed a restraining order against her fiance.
Lockhart was found stabbed to death inside a gold van, a Honda Odyssey, in West Philadelphia about 8:23 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022. When Philadelphia police arrived at the scene, they discovered Lockhart in the front passenger seat. She had suffered multiple stab wounds to her arms, neck and body, including one to her face, according to media reports.
Less than an hour after the brutal attack, 34-year-old Raymond Thompson, turned himself in to police. He was promptly arrested and has been charged with murder.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner labeled the slaying as "extremely sad and very, very troubling."Senior Pastor William Brownlee, Lockhart’s cousin, told a local TV station that she was "loved by everyone."
Brownlee said that even though Lockhart had a restraining order against Raymond, she was smitten."She was in unconditional love," he was quoted as saying. "She fought for him, and she was the one who loved the children… When love is not reciprocated, that's when it becomes dangerous."
Brownlee told the media outlet that no matter what, the children need to all stay together to fight the “curse of division.”
"I understand we are all mad at Raymond, but he's still the father, the living parent that these kids have to grow up and one day face," Brownlee was quoted as saying. "There's something called a generational retaliation," he said. "If we retaliate, then the children are going to start to retaliate. We have to stop it at the root."
A GoFundMe account set up on behalf of the children says:
“On Saturday August 6, 2022 our beautiful Ashley Lockhart was taken so tragic and sudden from her 6 beautiful daughters, family and loved ones. Ashley was an amazing Mother, dedicated working Mother and devoted Mother. She loved all of her children and devoted her time, energy and made sacrifices for them that they will forever remember. As this is extremely difficult to process, and unimaginable to even begin to try and move forward, we the family would like to maintain the momentum for the girls. They are returning to school in a few short weeks, and their every day essentials are important for us to make sure they aren’t lacking, as Ashley did. The ages of all of the girls are 10, 8, 6, 5, 4 and 5 months. As a family we will make sure that all “6 Charms” (as Ashley called her girls) stay together and that their Mothers life and legacy is one that they will forever remember. All proceeds will go towards costs and needs for the girls only.”
