Shardae Whitehurst: Woman Found Dead On Side Of The Road In South Carolina
The body of Shardae Whitehurst was found on January 28, 2023 on the side of the road in a wooded area of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Her family wants justice.
In January 2023, police in Spartanburg, South Carolina found the body of a young black woman on the side of the road in a wooded area. There were no clues as to how she got there or who did it. All officers knew was that a horrid crime had taken place.
Since that time, the mystery surrounding the last days and hours of Shardae Monique Whitehurst has only deepened. The 27-year-old worked at McDonald’s and was last seen after being dropped off at home on January 19. Her body was discovered nine days later.
In August 2023, investigators announced a major break in the case: A woman has been arrested in connection with Whitehurst’s death.
The woman, who as of yet, has not been named, initially was interviewed by detectives and told them that she didn’t know Whitehurst had died. It has now been discovered that Whitehurst actually died at the woman’s home in nearby North Carolina, about a mile from where the body was found.
According to warrants obtained by local media, the woman transported Whitehurst’s body from South Carolina to North Carolina, then back to South Carolina, “inflicting trauma to the body when disposing of it.”
She has been charged with obstructing justice, unauthorized removal of a dead body, desecration of human remains and giving false information to law enforcement.
Law enforcement continues to investigate Whitehurst’s murder.
