Teisha Brewley, Social Media Influencer, Killed In Targeted Shooting In Uber In Atlan
Teisha Brewley was a popular socialite in Atlanta who often posted about the city and her Guyanese background. Brewley, 31, was shot and killed in the back of an Uber SUV in the city’s affluent Buckhead district on Tuesday, May 30 2023.
Brewley, who was reportedly leaving an area strip club, was ambushed around 4:30 a.m., according to Atlanta law enforcement.
Police have said that it is a possibility that the murder was a targeted attack, but they don’t know why or by whom. They continue to investigate the shooting. What they do know is that more than one gun was pulled on Brewley, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to the onslaught.
“It’s still very early on and so we’re still trying to piece a lot of things together,” a police spokesperson told reporters.
The Uber driver called 911 after sudden gunfire broke out after a car drove up and began firing into his black Escalade, in which Brewley was riding in.
"I was scared, somebody... somebody shot, somebody killed her in my car," the Uber driver told the 911 dispatcher.
“It sounded like a war was going on outside, I was shocked,” Buckhead resident, Nick Taylor, who lives near where the shooting took place, told a local media outlet. “Usually when I hear gunshots you hear it about two seconds, it really quick but this lasted for at least a good 20 seconds."
The Uber driver was not injured.
An Uber spokesperson released a statement on the shooting:
We are horrified by the news of this chilling attack. We have been in touch with the driver to check on his well-being, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this heartbreaking time. We are standing by to assist police with their investigation.
