Ty'Osha Mitchell: 25-Year-Old Dies Being 'Beaten Out' Of Gang
Ty’Osha Mitchell, 25, of Richmond, Virginia, wanted to get out of the gang life. The 25-year-old was reportedly the highest-ranking female in Norfolk gang.
To be allowed to exit the gang, she had to submit to being savagely jumped by three women for more than 30 seconds.
“A witness told investigators that at one point during the thrashing, Mitchell dropped to the ground and curled into the fetal position before a man stood her up so that the battery could continue,” reports local newspaper, The Daily Press.
Mitchell was able to make it to her apartment after the first beating. But a short time later, the trio of women along with a masked man and another with a gun, showed up at her apartment for more violence. Mitchell was taken away in a black Hyundai Sonata, according to witnesses. About an hour later, at 3:47 a.m. neighbors reported hearing gunshots near where Mitchell’s body would later be found on May 6, 2023.
Around 6:30 a.m., a jogger called police after seeing a body "about 10 feet off the road into the woods.” 25-year-old Tyosha Tanique Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to media reports, the second incident was due to one of the gang members being jealous of Mitchell’s relationship with one of the women’s lovers, a witness told police.
Mitchell’s mother, Patricia Troy, turned to the public to help her daughter get justice in the case.
“All I keep thinking is that I wish I could’ve been there with her to protect her,” she told local media. “That’s all I could think about.”
Norfolk police have announced that four people – Jayquan Allen Jones, 20, and Jamica Danielle Langley, 24, both of Richmond; Acacia Jackson, 18; Hezekiah “H.K.” Janile Carney, 24, both of Norfolk; – have been charged in Mitchell’s death, including those connected to the Vietnam Baby Gorilla gang, a branch of the Norfolk-based Mad Stone Bloods, which is affiliated with theBlack P Stone Nation gang, according to police.
“According to Mr. Carney’s records, it was found that his device communicates to all parties involved before and after the incident,” the documents read.
