GoFundMe For Pregnant Mother Killed In California Car Crash Surpasses $160K
The family of a woman who died in a fiery car crash has set up an online fundraiser to cover her funeral expenses and that of other relatives killed in the accident.
Pregnant mother Asherey Ryan, 23, was among six people who were fatally injured in the crash, which happened last week in Windsor Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. Her 11-month-old son, Alonzo, and her unborn child also died.
“She was my first best friend. The first person I knew. The first person I probably had a conversation with,” Sha’seana Kerr, Asherey Ryan’s younger sister, told TV station KTLA.
“She’s my only big sister. Every day we take our sons outside and walk them around the block. Every day. The neighbors know us,” Kerr went on to say. “Today, I had to walk alone with my son.”
About 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, August 4, 2022, Ryan, her boyfriend Reynold Lester, and her children, were all headed to a prenatal check. She was more than eight months pregnant, according to the L.A. Times.
Out of nowhere, Nicole Lorraine Linton, 37, a registered nurse, came speeding through the intersection in her Mercedes and crashed into several vehicles. Two cars immediately blew up in flames.
Linton, a traveling nurse from Texas who was working in L.A., was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. The next day, she was booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility. The judge set her bail at $2 million.
A GoFundMe set up to care for the family’s funeral costs reads:
On August 4,2022 the worst thing occurred. We lost Asherey Ryan her 11 month old son Alonzo Quintero, Asherey’s unborn baby Armani to a tragic car accident that took place on Slauson and La Brea. My name is Shaseana Kerr, Asherey Ryan younger sister and I am organizing this fundraiser for our mother Sharita Randleston, to help her pay for funeral expenses because they did not have insurance so any donations help. Please let the family mourn in peace.
Although she was heartbroken at the tragedy, Kerr had a personal message for Linton: “I just want to tell her that we forgive her,” Kerr told the TV station. “She will have to live with this for the rest of her life. That’s why she was spared. We understand it already.”
Another bail hearing has been set for the coming days. In court, Linton was seen sobbing as the judge denied her request for a $300,000 bail.
