Deborah Pearl: Shot and killed in traffic
Deborah Pearl, a 53-year-old Ohio woman, was driving in traffic on her way to work at a diner when her life change irreparably and was then taken.
Driving in Solon, Ohio on a street, Matthew Ryan Desha, 29, crashed into Pearl on early Saturday morning. Desha's car flipped several times and landed on its roof after he ran a red light and careened into Pearl's car, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Desha then exited his SUV with a rifle and pointed it at Pearl, who put her hands in the air. He then proceeded to execute her, according to the Plain Dealer.
A 911 caller called into dispatch and told a man that a male had "an ak-47 walking around shooting" in the area.
"He's right at our driveway walking back and forth pacing," the caller, clearly shaken, can be heard saying.
"It started off as a car accident, ma'am?" the dispatch officer asks. "Yes," the woman says.
At a makeshift memorial at the intersection of the crash, her sons Timothy and Derial, said Pearl was an exceptional woman. "She impacted a lot of people with her love and spirit," they told Fox 8 Cleveland.
Police have not released a motive for the brazen shooting.
