Tianna Thomas: Georgia Mother Found Dead on California Beach

Tianna Thomas moved to California in the fall of 2024 with high aspirations for her and her family. The 33-year-old, who loved having a good time, had moved from Georgia for a better life, and her family knew it.

“All of our friends that knew her, they were like, hey, your sister loved to live,” Kiara Thomas told WSB-TV in Atlanta, adding that she was a free spirit.

Tianna Thomas, a mother of two from DeKalb County, grew up attending New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Her sister described Tianna as an outgoing person who loved traveling, helping communities, and giving back to the poor. In a GoFundMe campaign, the sister expressed her devastation: "I never thought I’d have to write a GoFundMe for any siblings. I’m heartbroken and don’t know what to do."

After moving to the Los Angeles area, Tianna ran into challenges when she had to evacuate due to wildfires, her family told local media. Her body was later found in a sleeping bag on a popular beach, leaving her sister reeling from the authorities’ call on February 11, 2025.

“She said we got some disturbing news. We found your sister on the beach. It is like a homicide,” Thomas recalled.

Police told the sister that Tianna had extensive trauma to her face.

“My sister body was found on February 10th 2025, at Venice Beach (Santa Monica) Approximately at 7am Wrapped up in a sleeping bag. When Police and Investigators discovered her body It was stuffed inside a sleeping bag with Invisible Trauma to her face(Battered)!”

“I just want to know what your reason was to do it. What was so bad to beat her like that?” Thomas told local TV station Atlanta News First.

Tianna's ex-husband informed Jones that Tianna recently moved to the Palisades area and was displaced by wildfires.

He mentioned she was supposed to receive assistance that never arrived, leading her to a Los Angeles shelter. Her sister is now pleading for public help to understand how Tianna ended up dead in a sleeping bag on the beach.

The family is still waiting for answers – and justice.
