Laquesha Holmes: 33-Year-Old Chicago Woman Chased Down And Shot 12 Times
Police need the public's help in finding the gunman who chased down a 33-year-old mother and shot her 12 times in Chicago. The shooting happened August 23, 2017 in Logan Square on the city's northwest side.
Laquesha "Quebaby" Holmes, who has four children, was ambushedabout 10:30 in the morning near Spaulding Avenue and Cortland Street, officials told local media. Witnesses said a man jumped out of a car and started shooting, hitting Holmes multiple times.
The gunman then got back inside a black Dodge Charger, and sped off. Holmes was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she died, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Looking to allay the fears of residents, Alderman Joe Moreno, said the shooting "stemmed from a domestic dispute," DNAinfo reported.
A neighbor said that after Holmes was shot people rushed to her aid.
"No one wanted to touch her [because] she had a lot of bullet [wounds]. I moved her hair out of her face and tried to speak to her," the neighbor was quoted as saying. "I could see she was breathing really shallow because her back was moving. Her eyes were open [then] rolled back a little."
“She will truly be missed by many, especially her children,” her friend told the Chicago Sun-Times. “Her death has impacted the entire Englewood community, there will never be another woman that walks this earth that you can compare to her.”
Police said the gunman was wearing a T-shirt and appeared to be about 20 years old.
