Tonja Chadwick: 20-year-old mother found dead in Baltimore park

Baltimore police searched for two days before they found 20-year-old Tonja Chadwick's body Thursday, February 2, 2017 in a Baltimore park. Her boyfriend is a "person of interest."

Tonja Deshaun Chadwick wanted to be a nurse. The 20-year-old wanted a better life for her 4-year-old son, but tragically her life was cut short.

She had been living with her aunt, but moved out a week ago to live with her boyfriend, but then she disappeared. Her relatives called, texted and messaged her but to no avail.

After a while, her phone was eventually answered -- by a janitor, who found her iPhone in a grassy area, according to police.

Baltimore police searched for two days before they found Chadwick's body Thursday, February 2, 2017 in a Baltimore park. Law enforcement believes she was killed in her new apartment and dumped in the park.

Marco Jamal Holmes, 22, Chadwick's boyfriend, is missing also. Law enforcement officials have not been able to be find him. He has been called a "person of interest" in her killing.

Chadwick's aunt is inconsolable.

"It feels like a nightmare," Latanya Chadwick told the Sun. "We don't know how to adjust."

“We can’t bring J back, she’s gone. But I want my sister to get justice. I want to know why. I want to know why,” she told WJZ.

"We are deeply saddened to report to you that the body that was located last night in the wooded area known as Daisy Park was that of 20-year-old Tonja Chadwick," police spokesman Chief T.J. Smith said. "This is officially a murder investigation."

He said whoever killed her "committed the equally disgusting act of discarding her body" where she was found. "It's an absolutely repulsive act with little regard for human life," he said.

Holmes has been in trouble before. He had an armed robbery case in 2014, according to the Sun.

"We don't have any solid leads on Holmes," Smith was quoted as saying, "so we're asking the public to help us out."

A GoFundMe account set up to cover funeral costs says that Chadwick made her family a priority.

I just want to take the time to express to the world who my daughter was a wonderful mother 1st and a outstanding daughter second with so many titles after that.She is a family-oriented and spend 95% of her social moments with family.She never bothered anyone,the nicest and sweetest young lady you would ever want to meet.She loves her son more than herself.
