Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Tampa, Florida arrested a man Saturday, April 22, 2017 after he made statements indicating that he was suicidal, but what they found in his wake was his girlfriend's dead body. Shyeanne Lewis, 23, was found after deputies forced their way into her apartment on College Court; she died from upper-body "trauma," local media reported.
Hector Favio Acevedo, 24, was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, Shyeanne Lewis, and taken into custody, according to news reports. Police said Acevedo is facing additional charges after they discovered that he is an ex-con who was in possession of a firearm.
Deputies responded to a call about a suicidal person became concerned about his girlfriend after Acevedo began making troubling statements about her well-being.
Investigators say the slaying preceded an argument the couple had after Acevedo said he wanted to leave Lewis’ apartment around 3 a.m. Saturday.
“Everything is going through my head,” Angela Martin, the victim’s mother, told News Channel 8. “I’m just hurt, mad, just there is no way I can really express how I feel. No way. It’s senseless. It was done out of…I don’t know if it was done out of spite but it could have been avoided. She just wanted to be left alone.”
