Ashley Geddes: Kansas City Woman Murdered One Day Before 25th Birthday
Ashley Geddes was what you called good people. A local rapper and model, she also helped her community, serving as a Sunday school teacher. Basically, everybody loved her, and she, in turn, had love for everyone she met. That's why her murder has shocked family and friends who still can't fathom how someone everybody had affection for could end up dead.
Geddes, 24, was found in her townhome on June 1 brutally killed, according to police, who investigated her death as a homicide.
Cedric O. Russell has been arrested and charged in her murder. Russell allegedly told police that the two here having sex and he was choking her and she stopped breathing, according to court records viewed by local media. He then allegedly stole her car, phone and jewelry, pawning some of the items.
"She was a good person, she was very friendly. She was very loyal to all of her friends, everybody, if she loved you, you felt that love. She was a good, cool person. I don't understand why this is happening," friend Tashaya Warfield told TV station Fox4KC.
Warfield also had a message for the killer: "Whoever you are I hope you have a heart. Just come forward and tell what you did. And if you don't it's fine because I hope the police get to you. I don't want the streets to take care of this. I want you to burn in jail is what I want you to do," she told the TV station.
A GoFundMe set up in the victim's behalf shares light on what she meant to her family. Geddes was killed one day before her 25th birthday.
“My beloved niece Ashley Nicole Geddes, 24, was found brutally murdered on June 1, 2017,” a man that identified himself as Geddes’ uncle wrote on the GoFundMe page. “My family and I are asking for your help to cover the funeral expenses.”
