Tamara Augustus: Dallas-Area Teen Shot Dead At NYE Party
Tamara Augustus was a fun-loving teenager who was determined to turn a rough childhood into something special. The 18-year-old Dallas, Texas girl constantly lifted the spirits of those around her.
Once she set her mind to something, there was nothing and no one that was going to stop her and get in her way, “ her relative said on a GoFundMe account set up in her behalf.
Tamara was shot to death on December 31, 2018 when gunfire rang out to celebrate 2019 at a New Year’s Eve warehouse party that she helped promote. Some reports say that about 200-300 people were at the party while others report that about 100 people were in attendance.
The fact remains that and at least one fight erupted in the aftermath, which led to guns being drawn, authorities told local media.
Tamara was knew to the Dallas-Forth Worth area. She moved there only a few weeks ago to be with a friend. The mother of a young son was born in California but raised in Arizona.
Even through tears, her sister told Star-Telegram that Tamara’s star burned bright among all she knew.
“Tamara was always so happy,” Megan Augustus was quoted as saying. “She always tried to make people happy. She was a very goofy, loving person. She was kindhearted. She just brought a spark everywhere she went. Sometimes we could just be sitting there talking and she’d just start dancing. I think that’s something everyone could agree on. She loved to dance.”
The GoFundMe sheds light on how special Tamara was. It reads in part:
Tonight; December 31, 2018 my little cousin Tamara was tragically taken from all of our lives. Tamara was so incredibly beautiful, smart, courageous and an absolute light in this dreadfully dark world. She was just 18 years old, a mother to a beautiful baby boy and had her whole life ahead of her. Like many young people now days, Tamara caught on to the YouTube sensation and she instantly became someone that people caught on to. Her smile, her laugh, her personality was something that many found hard to ignore. She took a rough childhood and turned it into the very best life for her and her son that she possibly could. Needless to say, being independent was an understatement. Once she set her mind to something, there was nothing and no one that was going to stop her and get in her way. Tamara was fearless and determined and we lost a beautiful soul tonight. Tamara was shot at an event that she was hosting for New Years Eve, after a fight erupted. Nothing can ever prepare anyone for something like this. She was killed out of state, in Texas. However, her home is in Arizona. Our first priority is to bring our cousin back home to her mother in Arizona. From there, we can then begin to lay her to rest. Our family does not have much and we are asking for any amount that you are able to donate. These funds will be going towards transporting her body home, funeral/memorial expenses, as well as getting her older sister to Arizona in order for her to be at her little sisters funeral
