Tiyquasha Antwonique Simuel: Woman Found Shot To Death In Asheville
Tiyquasha Antwonique Simuel, 24, of Asheville, North Carolina was very much looking forward to motherhood and a new life with her baby. She was expecting her child in July.
But her life was cut short in the early morning hours of June 12, 2019 in a shooting at an apartment complex.
A man who said that he was romantically involved with Simuel and the father of her child told the Asheville Citizen Times that she “She was a great girl — a beautiful mind, a beautiful heart. 'm crushed. That's my backbone, my everything."
Police said that the Simuel’s shooting is still under investigation. She had relocated to Las Vegas and was reportedly back in town for a baby shower.
"Upon arrival at Boyd Avenue and Ivy Street we located a pregnant female who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds," APD spokeswoman Christina Hallingse was quoted as saying. "She was transported to Mission, where she later succumbed to her injuries."
Simuel’s child lost a lot of blood but is still holding on, according to the newspaper.
"The investigation into this incident is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time," Asheville Police Department spokeswoman Christina Hallingse told reporters.

What makes this case interesting is that Simuel was actually a witness in ongoing murder trial innvolving the slaying of another pregnant woman.
The state alleges that Nathaniel Dixon shot Candace Pickens and her toddler in 2016 after luring her to an Asheville park. Pickens, who was pregant, died while her 3-year-old survived.
