Shiand Miller And Her Daughter Shot Dead In Parked Car In Baltimore
Shiand Miller was a young Maryland mother with a 3-year-girl who was getting ready to start kindergarten. Miller, eight months pregnant, was looking forward to a baby shower.
Instead, her family is planning a funeral after Miller and her 3-year-old daughter, Shaniya Gilmore, were shot to death on Thursday, June 18, 2020 in Baltimore, Maryland.
The bodies of the two gunshot victims were found in a parked car in a southwest Baltimore neighborhood by police officers.
Neighbors told local media that they saw the woman in her car with the windows rolled down, but thought she was asleep. Another observer thought she had perhaps overdosed.
After another concerned neighbor pulled up beside her the next morning and blew her horn and got no reaction, she called 911.
Mother, Toddler Shot Dead On Baltimore Street
Authorities have arrested 24-year-old Devon Sample and charged him with murder in the gruesome killings. Sample is the father of the unborn baby, according to local media.
While investigating the murder, officers viewed surveillance video that showed Miller's Subaru pull up about 11 p.m. with Sample's BMW right behind it.
The footage shows someone get out of the BMW and goes toward the Subaru. "A muzzle flash is observed from within the victim’s vehicle,” officers wrote. “A second muzzle flash is observed outside of the driver’s side of the vehicle," the Baltimore Sun reports.
Back on the streets, neighbors were shocked to learn of the killings, especially when they found out who were the victims. "Who would kill a baby?" one observer told WBFF TV.
A GoFundMe account has been set up in the name of "Shiand and Shaniya" to help care for funeral costs.
Miller was going to have a boy.
Detectives are still investigating the murders. Anyone with information can call police at 410-396-2100.
