Chaundrah Jones: 24-Year-Old Mother Of 2 Ambushed In Car In Philadelphia
Chaundrah Jones of Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania had a small frame, but was huge in stature, her family said.
"There was nothing small about Chaundrah but the name Smalls. She was a big, big person in a little body," her grandmother Saundrah Atwell told news channel WPVI. The 24-year-old Philadelphia woman just left the 7 Star Lounge around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, when at least two gunmen approached the vehicle she was riding in along with two friends.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, one of the gunmen pulled out an AK-47 “as long as his leg,” citing words from Philadelphia Homicide Capt. Jason Smith.
Gunfire erupted into the car as Jones was hit twice along with the two other passengers. Jones, a mother to two little boys, ages 3 and seven months old, died a short time later."I can tell you that everything we've uncovered so far indicates that the victims in the car were targeted by at least two people," Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner Ben Naish told the TV station.
But the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Jones was not the intended target.
The other two women involved, ages 32 and 26, remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Poice are looking for at least two gunmen. Anyone with any information on this shooting is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
