Akeila Ware: Pregnant Mother Killed In Georgia; Soldier Arrested
Akeila Ware was a loving daughter, mother and co-worker,” William Ware Jr., her father, told People magazine.. “[She] loved her life. She worked her way through school to become a RN nurse. She was a family person.”
Ware, 29, was a pregnant mother in Troupe County, Georgia waiting for her due date. “[She] was happy about the baby,” Ware’s father told People. “She was looking to buy a new home for her family.” He said the baby was a boy.”
On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, Ware was driving down the highway when her car suddenly ran off the road. Troupe County sheriff deputies responded to the incident thinking it was a mundane accident. They soon realized that it was a murder.
Ware was found by the officers in critical condition. Ware, who was 33 weeks pregnant, learned when they took her to the hospital that she had been shot, according to roup County Sheriff James Woodruff.
“I went to the scene and could not believe that somebody has shot and killed a young other of five children,” Woodruff told reporters. “On top of that, killed her and she had a baby inside of her that resulted in the death of the baby.”
Officials say their investigation has revealed that Ware and Fort Bragg soldier Alonzo Dargan were both in the car together when the shooting occurred. Officers said that Dargan allegedly fired several shots at Ware’s vehicle.
Inside the hospital, Ware and her unborn child died as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting.
Dagan is charged with murder, feticide and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to his jail records.
