Tanajwa McMurray: 31-Year-Old Pregnant Mother Killed In North Carolina
Tanajwa McMurray, 31, made a living by helping people in crisis. The 911 dispatcher was in her Fayetteville, North Carolina home when she became a victim herself.
Fayetteville police said that McMurray’s live-in boyfriend killed her on Wednesday, October 11, 2021. When officers arrived at the home, McMurray, who suffered at least one gunshot wound, was pronounced dead at the scene.
McMurray was five months pregnant. Her 10-year-old daughter, who was in the home at the time of the shooting, hid in the home and was unharmed, according to the Fayetteville Observer.
The victim’s mother told the Observer that McMurray was going to leave her boyfriend.
"Ms. McMurray was a telecommunicator in our 911 Call Center and our team is deeply saddened," a Cumberland County EMS spokesperson said in a statement, according to ABC7. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time."
Willie Earl Moore, 27, has been charged with first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child, possession of a firearm by a felon, and more.
