Kei'ara Hudson: Mother Of 3 Shot Dead In Front Of Her Kids In Buffalo, NY
Kei'ara Hudson, 40, of Buffalo, New York, was shot dead inside her vehicle on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Her children were in the backseat.
On the morning of Wednesday, October 5 2022, Kei'ara Hudson, 40, packed her three children in her vehicle like she always did. She was going to take them to school.
But she never made it. Hudson was fatally shot, but not before she was able to document domestic abuse perpetrated against her. She was found sitting in her SUV around 8:30 a.m., according to local news reports.
In the backseat were her three children, who apparently witnessed the murder, but were physically unharmed, according to Buffalo police.
Buffalo Police identified 45-year-old Adam Bennefield – the victim’s husband – as a person of interest in the homicide.
Bennefield had a history of domestic abuse in the couple’s marriage, according to WIVB TV.
Hudson's sister, Montaysha Jeter, told WKBW her sister posted a disturbing video on social media of her husband beating her.
"She's just been trying to get help. I've been with her going to police stations, she's been texting me, sending me videos, giving me her phone password just in case," Jeter told the TV station.
On Wednesday, Hudson went around the corner in her car, and her husband "smashed into the front of her car and got out of the car with a shotgun, shot her and pulled off,” Jeter told the TV station.
Their relationship had deteriorated so much that Hudson had reportedly begun wearing a bulletproof vest and had moved in with her mother.
On Sept. 28, Hudson and Bennefield, who were separated, were inside their home when Bennefield allegedly attacked his wife, punching and kicking Hudson, according to court documents.
A video of the assault was posted by Hudson on Facebook. “She left us with that video to show what happened. Now the question is why it happened,” the victim’s sister told WIVB.
Andrew Hodge, the father of one of Hudson’s children, told local media that she often talked about the danger she was in.
"She would call and ask questions saying 'what should I do?' When the video was posted on Facebook, everybody saw it. Everybody was trying to help her and this is what happens,” he told WKBW.
