Brenisha Butcher: Milwaukee Mother Shot Dead
Brenisha Butcher was a mother of four children in Milwaukee. The entrepreneur owned a day care center and enjoyed life as well. Now she’s dead.
Butcher, 33, was shot in the early morning hours of Monday, March 16, 2025. outside a bar on the city’s northwest side.
“She was just full of life,” said her cousin, Mrs. Jones. “A sweet, kind girl just doing good for herself. She just started her daycare, and she loved her kids.”
According to witnesses, Butcher and her 30-year-old sister were inside their vehicle when shots rang out, striking both of them. Butcher’s younger sister survived the shooting, but Brenisha did not.
Milwaukee Alderwoman Larresa Taylor, whose district includes where the bar is located, says she plans to do something about the rash of violence that has occurred in and around the structure for the last few years.
“I do intend to sit down and have a conversation with our police department to see what we can do further,” Taylor told TV station WISN. “When you create a pattern of not taking care of and not practicing safety, and not giving the highest level of service to our community, that is definitely a problem,” Taylor said.
Police have no suspects at this time but continue to investigate the murder.
