De'ja McCrary: 25 Year-Old Mother, Shot Dead After Ex ‘Lured’ To Atlanta-Area Apartment, Police Say

De'ja McCrary, 25, was shot to death after being lured to an Atlanta-area apartment complex by her ex-boyfriend, police say. The murder plot took place on May 25, 2022.

Atlanta-area police say 25-year-old De'ja McCrary was the victim of a murder plot. The incident happened on May 25, 2022 in the city of South Fulton, which is just outside Atlanta, Georgia.

According to law enforcement, McCrary’s former boyfriend “lured” her to an apartment complex to “fight” his current girlfriend, 11 Alive reports. But that’s not why she came to the complex, according to her friends and family. They say McCrary was there to retrieve a laptop that her ex-boyfriend had in his possession, but she was ambushed.

The ex-boyfriend, Colvin Lindsey, allegedly set McCrary up to have a confrontation with  his current girlfriend, Teandra Brox, according to South Fulton Police Chief Keith Meadows. A third woman, Aquala Barnes, allegedly sent McCrary a text message telling her where to meet Brox, 11 Alive reports.

When McCrary got to the apartment complex and excited her car, she was fatally shot, police said. Her 4-year-old child was in the car but was not seriously injured.

Lindsey is charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and being associated with a street gang while conducting and participating in a crime, according to Fulton County jail records.

Barnes is also facing felony charges such as homicide and aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.
