Kyla O'Neal: Pregnant Minnesota Woman Shot Dead In Amazon Parking Lot

Kyla O'Neal, 31, a nine-months pregnant Minnesota woman, was shot and killed outside an Amazon fulfillment center in Lakeville, Minnesota on Sunday, January 8, 2023. A man she was romantically linked to has been arrested and charged in her death.

Kyla O'Neal, 31, was a hard-working Minnesota mother who did everything she could for her four children. Part of that was getting out of a relationship that was no longer working for her.

According to news reports, O’Neal and Donte Rapheal McCray, 32, had gotten into it because of him cheating.

Family members said that O’Neal ended their relationship hours before she was shot and killed on Sunday, January 8, 2023 around 6:50 p.m., just days before she was due to deliver a baby boy.

O'Neal was struck down in the parking lot of the Amazon warehouse in Lakeville, Minnesota.

Doctors were not able to save O’Neal, but were able to deliver her new baby, Messiah, although he was not doing well.

"I need him to pull through this," Katina O'Neal, Kyla's mother said, according to CBS News. "I want him to. I can't lose both of them, not right now, no."

Medical staff told local media that the infant’s condition is critical but the good news is that they "eventually got a pulse."

"He lost a lot of oxygen to the brain, so he has no brain functioning right now," Katina was quoted as saying. "I'm holding onto faith. I'm praying. God got the last word, so hopefully He gives him to me."

When officers from the Lakeville Police Department responded to a 911 call, they found O’Neal suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle parked outside of an Amazon fulfillment center.

A GoFundMe page set up on behalf of O’Neal’s children says, “Hi everyone my name is samantha scott I am the oldest sister of this intelligent Queen who lost her life due to gun violence by the hands of her child father in Lakeville Minnesota my sister Kyla was 31 years old and was 9 months pregnant on January 8,2023 she was shot and killed and my nephew was forced to be delivered but is fighting for his life she leaves behind 4 children ages 10,7,2 & her new born whom is fighting to live ,please donate to help my mother and her family give her a proper funeral service and help with expenses to continue to care for her 4 children and please keep her baby boy my nephew and family in your prayers . Police say McCray — who has “employment affiliation” at the Amazon facility — was taken into custody, according to a Lakeville PD news release.

McCray was booked into the Dakota County Jail, police said.
